more freedom, more life
On one of my walks recently the electronic bulliten in front of the church read something about "40 Days for Life" and there were a lot of signs and flags to mark the occasion. There were also several little white crosses on display, each of which are supposed to represent a million unborn children. I really wonder if these people ever for once considered what life on earth would be like if every fertilized egg were born into the world? Science or loving and respecting the Earth isn't their strong suit.
So I wrote this to the parish priest. I got no reply.
Dear Father ___,
Re: 40 days for Life
Could you possibly also hold a 40 day effort to save Earth? Because without Earth, there WILL BE no life!
Turning America into a theocracy isn't going to stop abortion.
Crimiminalizing miscarriage and putting women behind bars isn't going to stop abortion.
Depriving women of their autonomy isn't going to stop abortion.
The problem with the society you seem to want to create is that it is a gated community and you leave PRACTICALLY EVERYONE outside the gates.
If you really wanted to stop abortions, why not try to make the world a place that someone would want to bring life into?
Crimimalizing abortion will only force women into sterilizing themselves. There is a passage in the New Testament where it foretells a time when women will rejoice that they don't have children. Those times are here now. [Luke 23: 29]
Has the Church really been faithful to the mission given it by Christ? Or has it also contributed its fair share to the misery, injustice, cruelty, degradation of souls and atrocities which make the world a place where women cannot bring life?
I have written several times to Deacon ___, and yourself and nobody will reply. I am only trying to find an honest dialogue and process for returning to the Church but not a process based on falsehoods and denial of truth.
(End of quotation)
I really believe that if these are the END OF DAYS, it is the religious people who are making it happen and not the unbelievers.
